Introduction

Established in 1951 as “ Frankness Incorporated“ or Al Saraha in Arabic by the late Ahmed Ali Eldarrat as one
of Libya’s first major trading companies after Libya’s independence. Saraha evolved to become one of Libya’s leading merchant family trading houses becoming the largest importer of steel and lumbar into Libya as well the exclusive agent for Sierra- Phillips, Japanese tire brand Toyo as well investments in commodities, Oil Field Services, Petrol Stations, Construction and Real Estate.

With the reopening of the Libyan private sector in 1991 the family group cautiously re-initiated business in Libya, and became once again one of country’s leading private sector distributors in Building Materials while avoiding any ties to the previous regime. With the advent of a “New Libya “, the family group is now lead by its third generation to aggressively re-launch and strengthen the families multiple business interests across the Libyan economy.
